John J. Almeida Obituary

John J. Almeida, 88, a resident of Jamestown for 25 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen F. (Cotter) Almeida for 53 years. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Foster and Sara (Nolan) Almeida.

John was a councilman in Pawtucket during the 1960’s. He was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses. John was the owner and administrator of the Oak Hill Nursing Home in Pawtucket and Paperback Books on Weybosset Street in Providence.

John was the loving father of Suzan Almeida, Cristin Hughes (husband, Charles Hughes) and Jon R. Almeida (wife, Theresa Strittmatter Almeida); devoted grandfather of Elvey and Ruby Almeida; caring brother of Jane Sabourin and the late Robert Almeida and Eleanor Lisi.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Monday, January 20, 2020 in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in St. Mark Church, Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. Interment will follow in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
