John Martino, 100, a 65 year resident of Johnston, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019. He was the husband of the late Sadie (Faria) Martino. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Tomasso and Assunta (Nardone) Martino. Mr. Martino was a machinist for the Grinnell Corp., and a maintenance worker for the Johnston School System and the Johnston Housing Authority until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Johnston Hose Co. #3, a member of the Smithfield Elks Lodge #2359 and enjoyed dancing and gardening.
He was the father of Dr. Thomas J. Martino of Jamestown, Martha A. Colagiovanni (Jerry) of Lake Suzy, FL and the late John M. Martino. He was the grandfather of Brian (Patricia) Martino of Hope Valley, companion of Dorothy Mann of North Providence and also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Martino was the brother of the late Rose Robideau, Albert Martini, Ascenzo, Victor, Joseph, Domenic and Anthony Martino.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 9:30-11am, with a Funeral Service to follow at 11am in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville. Burial in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated.
