Born in Providence, Rhode Island
Resided in Exeter, Rhode Island
Marion Madeline Rondeau passed away November 25, 2019 at the age of 94. Marion was born in Providence, Rhode Island to Michael and Effie Kapp on October 4, 1925, and was the second of seven children. She met her husband Lawrence Joseph Rondeau, Sr., by chance one day walking past his house on the way home. The two married in 1946 and moved to the farm in Exeter, RI soon after, a town which would remain Marion’s home until her death. Marion and Lawrence had two sons, Lawrence Rondeau, Jr. and David Rondeau.
Marion was active with the local 4-H Club when they were young, never missing a fair and spent time cooking meals for the Homemakers. For more than thirty years, Marion served as the Exeter Postmaster, running the local post office out of her home on Ten Rod Road. Marion always had a large vegetable garden, which she tended with her sister, Helen. Following the passing of her husband in 1983, Marion continued with her signature strength and pragmatism, and it was not unusual for neighbors to recount tales of her climbing ladders to shovel snow off her roof, or wielding a shovel to break ground on her new garage well into her seventies. Marion was a devoted Catholic, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked hard throughout her lifetime to provide for those around her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Sr., sisters Helen Polacek and Loretta Poole, brothers Edward Kapp and Michael (“Dick”) Kapp, and son Lawrence Jr. Marion is survived by sisters Ethel Roach and Ruth Mowry, son David Rondeau; granddaughters Jeanne Rondeau, Laurel Rondeau, Anna Gosbee, and Allison Rondeau; grandsons Robert Rondeau and James Rondeau, and six greatgrandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown at 10 am on Friday December 6, 2019 with burial to follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 5-7 pm on Thursday December 5, 2019 at the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home.
