Mary K. Murchie Obituary

Mary K. Murchie (Arnold), 78, of Jamestown, passed away on August 20, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Robert R. Murchie, Sr. for forty-eight years.
Born in Jamestown, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Katherine “Kitty” (Kerr) Arnold. She was the sister of the late Ellen Brownell.

Mrs. Murchie graduated from Rogers High School. She was active with the both the Boys and Girls Scouts and was a huge crafter enjoying sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. She was also a Stephen King fan, collecting autographed copies of all his works. Mary was an active parishioner at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

She leaves her three children, Jolene Gillander of Canton, MA, Robert R. Murchie, II and his wife Beth of Leominster, MA and Court Murchie and his wife Mariann of Fargo, ND; a brother, William Arnold of New Market, NH; a sister, Susan Foley of Newport; nine grandchildren, Ellen, Ross and his partner Tara, Jeffrey and his wife Cait, Rachael and her partner Eric, Caitlin, Taylor, Madison, Elizabeth “Betsy” and Emily; and a great-granddaughter, Harper.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 will be appreciated.
